RSS 1.0 (RDF) feed formats

posted: May 27, 2003 3:19:32 PM

When I created this blog, using blojsom, I enabled blojsom's RSS 1.0 (RDF) feed. I tested this in my news reader and it worked fine. So, I didn't really think more about it. I just validated all the feeds using the RSS Validator, and they check out.

But, I was just looking at the RDF feed from Lawrence Lessig's blog, and noticing how it uses a more verbose / descriptive format.

In particular, it first lists all of the posts (items) in a rdf:Seq, whereas the RDF feed for this blog only lists each item separately. Also, Lessig's RDF has both a post description and content:encoded.

So, I was wondering, if you are into this kind of thing, if you might look at the RDF feed from my blog and let me know if what you think that I should make it more verbose / descriptive. What is out there that can make use of such information at this point?

Fortunately, it is generally easy to edit the templates in blojsom for the RSS feeds. They are created with Velocity, which is obviously really nice for creating multiple template "flavors". And, I want to edit the RSS templates soon to include dc:subject anyway.

References to sites and/or tools that might help me better understand this decision about the RSS 1.0 feed are much appreciated, but your opinion is appreciated too. Thanks!
