Marc Canter posted some funny comments on the semantic web under the title Cart before the horse. He refers to Danny Ayers' post about a new Semantic web book.
Danny is definitely one person I see doing something interesting with RDF, with his Ideagraph. (Hope Danny is keeping up with Tim Bray's comments, including his latest Semantic Web: Gripes and A Way Forward.)
For now, I have decided not to build RDF into the foundation of the iCite net prototype, though I am still looking to ensure that iCites can express themselves as RDF. I am sure, with enough good examples from Danny (and Ian Davis's Internet Alchemy), I will get more into RDF in the future.
Danny also posted yesterday about the new OWL Web Ontology Language XML Presentation Syntax specification from the W3C. Honestly, I actually thought I understood what OWL was about before I saw this specification!
I will have to revisit this RDF stuff shortly. Right now, I am immersed in more simple-minded confusions between XPath, XQuery, and XSLT (oh yeah, and XPointer too). I see how and why they are different from each other, but I have got a lot on my mind. . .
