Rebecca Blood points to the Guardian Unlimited article, Library without books about the new (released only in Japan) Sony LIBRIe eBook which uses a neat new e-Ink technology for its display. Some more pictures and info on the MobileReads Network and in this NE Asia online article, Sony to Release a Light, Thin E-Book Terminal Called 'LIBRIe'.
The display makes this very neat, though Sony's plans to develop and market it may be something in itself. Personally, I would totally eschew the DRM aspect of it and the implied trend that could lead to libraries not having physical books and/or not truly owning the electronic books they collect. I see some serious culture / knowledge destroying potential there.
