Of the many would-be blog entries I've yet to post, there are two that I've ended up hinting at more and more here, because, I hope, they will help articulate two fundamental concepts of the iCite net.

So, now I've been having trouble deciding which to post first — kind-of a deadlock between which is the more fundamental concept to introduce! Anyway, here is a brief intro to both, to break that deadlock ;-)

Web Idioms is a term I've been using for a while in conversations to describe one conceptual focus of the iCite net. Web idioms are basically things that we (humans) recognize to be as, or, of the web, but which inherently do not have a clean / strict definition. The classic example of a web idiom is the website itself.

Different Webs is a term I've been using more recently in conversations to describe what I see as a coming paradigm-shift beyond language and thinking that comes out of the 1990s "web vs not-web" mindset. Basically, we (humans) now live on the web, and our web experiences and web developments are all of and around a widely diverse realm of different webs, rather than "the web".

So, the iCite net is itself a different web, made up of iCites. And iCites are a way of creating interfaces to web idioms (and of creating and sharing new web idioms). But, also, web idioms are one of the principle ways different webs are different.

So, I'm back to self-reference, and will need to write more about all this in subsequent posts!
