Sam Ruby is blogging about experimenting with blog comments in RSS, and receiving interesting comments on his blog in response.
One thing I want to enable with iCites is the ability to mix and match RSS feeds. This would include a "feed of feeds" kind-of concept, with their being a kind-of drill-down into more specific feeds.
As a use case: I would like to start off reading the RSS headlines of the blogs I read, and then pick and choose which posts are interesting to me and (drill down and) subscribe to the RSS feeds of those specific posts. These more specific feeds would include comments (and, with iCites, more than just comments).
The comments (and other things) that appear in these more specific feeds would be coming in from all-over, as in a ThreadsML network. In other words, posts that comment on, trackback to, and otherwise cross-reference the specific feed I am subscribed to would also appear in that feed.
I also notice the Sam has a Wiki he is using to create a profile for a Well-formed log entry. A very good thing to consider, IMO. One part of the iCite software I am working on right now would be so much easier if it could count on well-formed blog posts!
