Interesting web application programming article, Beyond MVC: A New Look at the Servlet Infrastructure, by N. Alex Rupp. He also is creating a servlet framework called Shocks that implements the principles he discusses in the article. (Oh, and a Shocks project blog just launched as I write this!)

I had always wondered how MVC got so associated with essentially workflow issues. I think it is good that Shocks addresses this mismatch. At the very least, it should provide some useful contrast next to Struts and Webwork.

I have talked about Fractal MVC as a possible term that could be applied to ideas in the iCite net about the relationship between data presentation, data processing, and data storage—I think this is within the more UI-oriented tradition of MVC. I am definitely not building another servlet framework!
