Transformation as architecture pattern

A little diddy: databases fully established the architecture pattern of information processing wherein there is behind the scenes information (i.e., data storage) that gets transformed to interaction layer information. Web architecture follows a similar pattern, except the end points around transformations may both potentially function as behind the scenes information or as interaction layer information.
