Site update and example of the day

posted: May 8, 2003 3:53:56 PM

I am working on building-out the icite.net website. So, the home page has some changes, and there are more done that I haven't made live yet. I have a lot of materials written up, and I am just organizing where they will live on this website. Once I have a good set of things ready for the site, I will make more of the site features live. I am trying to minimize the level of confusion on the existing site while adding a lot more information architecture (i.e., from the current near total absence of architecture) to support a lot more content plus support the prototype live iCite service.

I decided today that I am going to publish an "example of the day" as a way to getting information about the iCite net online on this site. So, each day, I will post a new example to this blog, and link to it from the home page.

There will be a section on this site, tentatively called "uses", where I will be able to later expand on examples with details in the forms of tips, how to's, demo's, and/or links to exemplary iCites.

Although I have a list of about 100 ideas for how people might want to use iCites, I think the fun is going to be that lots of people will come up with new uses. I actually think of the iCite net as an information ecosystem with a few rules for "life" that hold it together, and that iCites are going to be like a constant dynamic of mutation. (Can you guess that I saw X2 last night?)

So, this "uses" section of the site will be where people can publish their uses--some of which will be simply a way to use iCites, and some of which will be new software that integrates iCites. I will start posting examples today that illustrate both of these potentials.
