I was just going to post about Jon Udell's latest Infoworld article, Your personal SOA, and noticed that Marc Canter just posted his comments on this and links to more comments from Jon on this as well. As always, cool comments from both Jon and Marc.
With the iCite net, one idea is that the client's view of "events" is also the basis for a service that the client can serve to another client / peer. I suggested a theory about this in my post, Fractal Model-View-Controller as the web (and my Agents who do atom might do more too is also somewhat relevant).
I really think that, in the connected web world, all "clients" can also be servers, and so, client-side events can be published back to the world. In spite of the ubiquity of the web and Internet connectivity to computers, I think a lot of things are still being designed in the more traditional client-server paradigm, where the client is like a dead-end path from the server. Instead, the "client" can be like another junction (which you can either think about as a server to other clients or as a peer in peer-to-peer scheme).
