After my last post about LID, I was reading more about the SixApart acquisition of LiveJournal, and thought I'd look more into what it takes to integrate with TypeKey and what TypeKey client code is out there.
Thinking about it: there is a future in developing services that offer a façade interface to lots of different services, e.g., an ID façade that can negotiate behind-the-scenes with multiple different ID systems (LID, TypeKey, etc.) is only one example. We should design with the expectation that things will keep getting more heterogeneous!

in that sense, OpenID is also somewhat similar to LID, which I've mentioned here before
