XHTML for web data services

posted: Oct 4, 2004 10:31:49 PM

I hope to post more soon about the "presentation" on the iCite net I gave to folks at Technorati in August. But one of the topics we discussed was using XHTML, rather than XML, as the basis for web data services.

This came up after I blamed XML for all of my development setbacks over the past year<g>, and some of my experiments creating what I would call XHTML databases (i.e., as alternatives to using XML). What was great for me was getting some perspectives from Tantek Çelik and Kevin Marks on their various various XHTML data projects.

Tantek has now posted web slides from Kevin's and his recent presentation on Can your website be your API? Using semantic XHTML to show what you mean. Interesting, and a good summary. See also Danny Ayers' comments and the Technorati wiki page on attention XML.
